The Concordia students also had guest sleepers every night who volunteered to join them on the pavement, including Concordia Student Union President Angelica Novoa and Concordia professors Martin Martens and Mahesh Sharma.
"The primary reason I did it is I'm requiring all my students to volunteer for a non-profit," Martens said. "Every night there were drunks coming by to talk. I would've done more nights, but I didn't anymore to take care of my dogs."
Chungwing stated that they had originally wanted to include McGill in the event, but that the Management Undergraduate Society had too many other events scheduled.
"[MUS President Kelly McAndrew] was able to swing by and show her support," Chungwing said.
Both Redler and Chungwing said the experience greatly increased their empathy toward Montreal's homeless population. Redler even donated his sleeping bag to a homeless man on the final night.
"I really hope that people realize that just because we do this for five days doesn't mean it is over," Redler said. "[The homeless] do this 365 days a year."
