Arts students will take to the polls on Wednesday to vote for their Arts Undergraduate Society executives in an election with a flurry of contested seats as well as an acclaimed incumbent president. A total of 15 candidates will vie for the vice-presidential positions of events, external, finance and internal as well as three representative positions to the Students' Society.

Many seasoned apartment hunters are equipped with a bad attitude and a cynical eye from bad experiences with the renting process and landlord relationships that leave much to be desired.

Although it generated enthusiasm when created at the beginning of the school year, the Students' Society's Flying Squad, intended to be a group of McGill students that could be mobilized to represent SSMU at various demonstrations, never found its wings. Vice-President External Max Silverman, who thought of the concept behind the group, admitted that it has not met since November.

Located in Bath, Ont., the Kingston Immigration Holding Centre opened on April 24, 2006 to detain individuals suspected of terrorist activity by the Canada Border Services Agency. Many people have been under custody without warrant or charge, leading to the Centre being dubbed "Guantanamo North" for acts that critics say violate the rights and freedoms of individuals.

CAMPUS: Making Waves group flushed out of McGill pool

Making Waves, a non-profit organization for special needs children had recently been expelled from McGill facilities. On Feb. 9, a child suffering from diarrhea defecated in the pool, resulting in the entire McGill Currie Gym pool being drained. Although at first it seemed to be a minor issue, two weeks later, McGill athletics contacted the organization and told them they would no longer be able to use the pool.
